Stan Heptinstall for Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election is now scheduled for Thursday 6th May this year having been held over from last year due to COVID.
The Liberal Democrats have selected Stan Heptinstall as our candidate. Stan is a family man with a wife, four children and 10 grandchildren. He spent all his working life as a senior member of staff in the University of Nottingham Medical School and, on retirement, was made an Emeritus Professor of the same university. Importantly, he served as a borough and county councillor for many years and spent time as a deputy leader and as the mayor. He is highly
respected by those who elected him and was also honoured by the Queen with the award of an MBE for his services to his community.
Stan says: "The job of a PCC is to engage with and understand the people he represents, and to use the knowledge gained in helping set the priorities for policing during his term of o
ffice. I have long experience of engaging with the people I represented as a councillor and working with and for them. I have already worked with the police in setting local priorities and will use the same approaches on a wider scale in Derbyshire. Collaborations between the police and other institutions is highly important in setting new agendas and my long experience of working within higher education and the health service will enable me to identify new collaborations which seem to me to be under-represented at the present time. I promise I will do my very best for you all and I would be delighted if you were to put your trust in me and elect me as your Police and Crime Commissioner."
Stan would like to hear directly from you about any issues relating to policing and crime. He can be contacted on 07792 987890 and by email at LibDemPCC@gmail.com.
