Focus On Wharfedale Road

This one small area of Wilsthorpe Ward is a microcosm of what is wrong with Conservative Erewash and Conservative Britain. We have local residents complaining that there calls for a bus shelter haven't been listened to by the local councillors and within yards of the bus stop we have fly-tipping that local residents have reported to the council, and which has not be cleared up, and this is encouraging further fly-tipping in this area.

The council is busy elsewhere fighting with other residents to build houses on their local green belt or winning levelling up funds for vanity projects in the town centre. The local councillors are simply not listening. The Conservatives nationally in government are more likely to criminalise hard working local people who are struggling to make ends meet and can't afford to dispose of their waste or who been taken in and have paid an unlicensed trader to dispose of their waste. Is this is what Levelling Up looks like in Erewash, and across the country. Levelling-up ought to be properly funding local council's so that they can spend the time providing bus shelters and free waste disposal, so that fly tipping doesn't happen and where it does clear it up.

Properly funding local councils so they can provide places that we can all be proud to call our home, communities that people can be proud to be part of and so that we don't need to organise community mess collection groups to keep tidy. Our local councillors ought to be lobbying our local MP to keep the Conservatives promise on Levelling-Up, rather than keeping quiet and just making do.
