Well-known local resident, James Archer, has been chosen to stand for our area in the upcoming County Council elections. A renowned campaigner on Environmental issues, parking, and more James is known for hard work on behalf of local people. James lives in Wilsthorpe, near the railway station, and is a professional engineer. He is used to leading and delivering complex engineering tasks. He is a prominent member of the local community and the Nottingham-Derby punk scene.
He is keen about efficiency and the environment, hating to see waste in all contexts. This is why he followed up the failure of one of the pothole repairs he had campaigned for with a public question at the County Council on the quality control of repairs.
He became a father for the first time in November last year. One of his favourite things about Sawley are walks by the River with his dogs, ending up in one of the local pubs.
James says "I am honoured to be asked to stand. Win or lose I will continue fighting for a better deal for our area, because we should all be working together for the good of our community."
